Overview

Amala Institute of Medical Sciences, named after Mary Immaculate, is a Christian minority institution which is open to all irrespective of religion, caste or creed. It aims at giving effective training to the youth to become medical and nursing professionals devoted to the healing ministry, especially in the rural areas. It also strives to strengthen the quality of service offered in the large number of medical institutions run by the community. AIMS is a unit of Amala Cancer Hospital Society managed by the Devamatha Province of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), founded by St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, a sage cum savant.

Amala College of Nursing is a unit of Amala Institute of Medical Sciences, under the auspices of CMI Devamatha Province. It was established in 2005, with an intake of 50 students. It is recognized by Indian Nursing Council and Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council, and is affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences. The college offers basic B.Sc. Nursing programme, M.Sc. Nursing programme and an approved centre for Ph.D. in Nursing under KUHS.

Students are admitted to this institute as per the admission procedure stipulated by the concerned authorities and in the tenor of the admission policy of the management.
