Overview
Obstetrics & Gynaecological Nursing is a speciality caring for woman during pregnancy, child birth and postpartum period. The wellbeing of the society is directly linked to the health and survival of mother and children. When the mother is healthy she gives birth to a healthy child. Prenatal guidance and efficient care is essential to reduce the maternal mortality and morbidity.
The department is designed for graduate and post graduate students to develop expertise and in depth understanding in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing. It further enable the students to function as independent midwifery practitioner, effective educators, managers and researcher at different settings.
Objectives
- To monitor and evaluate Obstetrics and Gynecological nursing skills of faculty and students.
- To demonstrate competency in practice to promote quality care to women and neonates.
- To incorporate evidence based nursing practice and identify the areas of research in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing.
- To demonstrate ethics in practice and research.
- To integrate the concepts of family centered nursing care and nursing process approach in Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing.
