Parents' Education Program - Breastfeeding Week 2026

The Department of Child Health Nursing and VI Semester B.Sc. Nursing students, Amala College of Nursing, Thrissur, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organized a Parents' Education Program as part of the observance of World Breastfeeding Week 2026 on 6 August 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the OBG Classroom, near postnatal wards of AIMS, Thrissur

The program was conducted with the theme "Strong Families, Healthy Babies", emphasizing the importance of family involvement in promoting successful breastfeeding practices and ensuring the health and well-being of infants. Parents attending the program were warmly welcomed by Dr Rohit, and the session began with an introduction highlighting the significance of World Breastfeeding Week and the vital role of breastfeeding in child survival, growth, and development.

The educational session focused on two key topics:

  1. Family Support in Breastfeeding
  2. Do's and Don'ts of Breastfeeding

Participants were also educated on correct breastfeeding techniques, positioning, attachment, feeding frequency, maternal nutrition, breast care, and common breastfeeding challenges. Myths and misconceptions related to breastfeeding were also discussed. The participants appreciated the informative session.
