Film critics club, a group formed to study the art of the cinema through discussion or the actual making of film. Film critics clubs provide students with a rare opportunity to be part of something fun, creative and sociable. Film critics club is responsible for viewing, taking notes and analyzing the acting, plot development, writing, directing, editing and cinematography of films. They use their writing and analytical skills to craft a professional review that can help audiences determine whether or not they should view the film.

AIM

  • To enlighten the students about the importance of cinema as a vibrant art form and makes arrangements for the screening of world-famous movies.
  • To organizes screenings of nationally and internationally acclaimed films and helps the students to appreciate good cinema.
  • Engages students with content and conversation.
  • To sharpen up student’s critical thinking skills

 FUNCTIONS: 

  • To propagate film as an art form given by science.
  • Provide students with the opportunity to develop skills in writing, producing, filming, and editing.
  • To expose the students to the richness and variety of international and National Cinema.
  • Film clubs are a way to unite communities, bring together friends.
  • To emphasize the cultural diversity and integration of India, by Screening different films made in different languages with subtitles.
  • To emphasize the cultural diversity and value education through the Good Cinema.
  • To conduct monthly screenings of films classics from the world Cinema during the academic year
  • To inculcate a sense of watching films collectively among students.
  • To help set up the necessary equipment (amplifiers, speakers, projectors etc.) to make the screening process as efficient and effective as possible.
  • To develop film books and DVD library for study and reference.

NORMS AND GUIDELINES:

  • Make each film experience as real as possible to make the film club fresh, exciting and also aids behavior of students
  • Negotiate film choices with the club members and allow them to choose or vote for the same.
  • Choose the appropriate day and time, trimonthly as fixed for arranging film shows.
  • Screen classics, documentaries, short films which are not much watched.
  • Selected film should have the aesthetic value and cinematically of a good standard.
  • Focus on a theme, based on the year of students and pick movies that are relevant to that theme.
  • A lively discussion after film show ensures students participation to make it all worthwhile and gives plenty of time in between to make plans and organize the next meeting.
  • Ensure appreciation and motivation in terms of prizes for best discussions conducted by the students.
